Guestbook for Lillian M. O'Brien Showing 1 - 17 of 17 entries.

Dear Maureen and O'Brien Family,

My memories of Mrs O'Brien are of a joyful, caring, forgiving, and constantly supportive mother. The memories of the all the stories and loving support she provided while we were in college come rushing back. Now her light and warmth will live on through you. She will be remembered by so many - please know that you are not alone as you mourn this tremendous loss.

My thoughts are with you Dan and your children. Lillian and I had a wonderful two days at the Montclair 50th Reunion just two months ago, remembering how much we had to be thankful for. Her enthusiasm for everything about life was obvious to us all in May. Find comfort knowing she lived life fully and faithfully.

Hello, Patti, and the O'Brien Family - Kristen called this afternoon to tell me that Lillian had passed suddenly. What sad news! Words can't properly express my sorrow for the loss of this fine, strong, vibrant Christian woman. Kris's dad, Joe Conley, and I spent many happy years living in Long Hill Township (when it was still called 'Passaic Twnsp"), while raising our kids along-side such dedicated parents, committed citizens, and often, reluctant Bingo team-mates like Lillian & Danny. Lillian's easy and infectuous laugh, her pragmatic, no-nonsense attitude, and her Christian spirit are/were such a part of her legacy. She is just a few years older than I but I always thought she was so much wiser than me and many of our contemporaries. And she, along with her faithful husband, raised 4 great kids at a time when keeping kids on the straight and narrow was a challenge like none known before. A time when being a hippy a.k.a. Flower Child had fallen out of fashion, only to be replaced by free love, the Viet Nam War, drugs, and families falling apart at the seams. She was a role-model to me, in ways that remain significant even 35 years later. I'm glad that I shared the same spot of Earth with her, if even for a short time. Here's to Eternity! Alleluia. He is risen! Alleluia! and Amen.

A warm smile, a joyful laugh, a mirthful story well-told; a truly thoughtful, compassionate lady of deep faith and numerous accomplishments. Lillian was one of a kind. We will dearly miss her.

Our deepest condolences to Danny, Kevin, Kathy, Patty and Maureen, and all the beautiful grandchildren she loved so much.

Lil is dancing in heaven right now with Mom watching as she plays cards, has a double daiquiri on the sweet side and smokes. These two sisters are reunited to party and show us, once again, how to live life to its fullest.

My fondest memories of Lil are her recounting her life stories, adventures, and sharing her pride in her wonderful children and grand-children. I'll always remember the wonderful trip we took to Ireland and Lil staying up with me most of the night to catch up after our long trip. Mom (Aunt Pat) woke up to find the 2 bottles of merlot saved for the weekend vanished thanks to Lil's excellent updates of life among the O'Brien clan. She was the warmest, most vivacious person that I've ever been privileged to know, and not only appreciated but encouraged any adventure that came along in life. She will be missed.

Dear Uncle Dan, Kevin, Kathy, Patty and Mooj,

Lil was a lovely person, and one of my favorite aunts. She always took a great interest in our lives, and was in many ways a second mother to us. She will be missed.

I will always remember her great love of life. Even after she was diagnosed with the diabetes, she hated to miss a party, and we knew that she and her sister Pat would stay up until 4 am if that's how long the Trivial Pursuit game would go on.

My heart is breaking especially for Danny. I have thought so long about the two of you together, that it is hard to think of Danny without Lil. Know that she is in a great place now, and although I always thought of her as an angel, now it is more official. You will be lonely, but you have many people who love you and life will go on. And, Lil is still with you in spirit, and now she is free from sugar tests and insulin pumps.

Love,

Trish
