Elizabeth "Betty" Bryant Polansky, of Maplewood, died peacefully at Overlook Hospital in Summit on July 20, 2010, after a long illness. She was 83.
Her family and friends were with her toward the end and all will cherish wonderful memories of a lively, beautiful, and very talented woman.
Born in California, Betty lived for many years in Springfield before moving to Winchester Gardens in Maplewood seven years ago.
Mrs. Polansky graduated from UCLA with BA in Liberal Arts and then graduated from the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, studying costume design.
She worked for many years as clothing designer, including positions as Head Designer with White Stag in Portland, OR; A&H Sportswear in Easton, PA and A.H. Schreiber in NYC. She finished her career with Gabar in NYC as a Design Consultant.
Betty was a member of the Unitarian Church of Summit and loved to travel.
She is the wife of the late Robert Polansky, who was killed in a small plane accident. She is survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sol and Kay Polansky and many friends.
A Memorial Service is planned for the fall and she will be buried with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
