Corinne Kennedy (nee MacLennan), of Short Hills, died at Care One in Livingston on Wednesday, November 28, 2007. She was 90.

Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, she had lived in Short Hills for many years.

Prior to and shortly after her marriage to Frank T. Kennedy in 1938, Mrs. Kennedy was a model and actress. She appeared in national newspaper campaigns for Lucky Strike and Old Gold cigarettes and Ipana toothpaste. She had modeled for B. Altmans and Dupes Departments Stores. She was on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post in October of 1941. Mrs. Kennedy also appeared in the movie “Stage Door Canteen.” She continued her love of acting appearing in many productions with the Racquetteers of the Racquet Club of Short Hills, where she and her husband were members. They were also members of Canoe Brook Country Club in Short Hills.

Mrs. Kennedy was a great Philanthropist. She was a long time member of the American Red Cross. She supported many Catholic and animal charities including the Monadnock Humane Society, the HT-Z Giant Schnauzer Rescue, the Rosary Shrine in Summit, the feeding of the less fortunate at St. John’s in Newark and was involved with Cardinal O’Connor’s charity work in NYC. She was also an avid supporter of her true love, the Metropolitan Opera, where she had set up a scholarship to assist young singers. She and her husband were also instrumental in the formation of the Catholic Student Center, Aquinas House, at Dartmouth College.

An avid traveler, she and her daughter traveled to Scotland together every year from 1990-1999. She also loved traveling to NYC for shows at the Met, shopping and dining. She will be remembered as a very kind person and a loving Mom who never gave up.

She was the beloved wife of the late Frank T. Loving mother of Jan Kennedy of Peterborough, NH. Cherish aunt of Tom Farrell of Springfield. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Ridgedale Ave., East Hanover on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 10:00 am. An interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Friends may call at the Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd., Whippany on Friday from 3-6 pm.
